Croatian Gastronomic Adventure with MasterChef

Learn about cooking and visit Croatian best places.

This trip is limited to a group of 6 only.

Our aim is to have genuine Croatian Adventure with sightseeing of Croatia blended with tastes of the regions prepared by our Masterchef guide Šime Sušić and locals. We’ll explore National Park Plitvice-a land of the falling lakes, hike the National Park North Velebit Mountain, paddle in turquoise waters of the Island Of Rab and visit the picturesque old town, camp in former political prison Island, enjoy in Geo Park Rab scenery, explore the 550 meters long cave Modrič, paddle down the rapids of snake shape river of Zrmanja,hike the trails of Krka National Park admiring travertine cascades and waterfalls.

ITINERARY

The following itinerary should be seen as an approximate guide only. Our program may change depend on the local weather conditions and preferences of the group.

Day One - From Zagreb to Land of the Falling Lakes Hiking

 We plan to leave Zagreb around 8 am and drive 2 hours to National Park Plitvice. Pick-up place will be noted in e-mail. We’ll spend the day in hiking around lakes and waterfalls and have culinary prepared lunch from Šime. Overnight in private accommodation. Dinner in local tavern.

Day Two - Krasno Fields & National Park North Velebit 

1.5 h drive to Krasno polje (beautiful field) where we’ll stop and try famous local cheese at Family owned cheesery and Šime will prepare us some specialties as well to take for our hiking trip that follows after 40 more minutes driving through amazing scenery. Upon arrival to Zavižan in National Park North Velebit (1594 meters) we’ll have a lunch and sightseeing of the place as here is situated the oldest high-altitude weather station in Croatia and botanical garden. Since Velebit forms a natural border between continental and Mediterranean regions of Croatia,the maritime and the continental climates clash at its uppermost parts .After lunch its time to take 5-6 hour hike the Premužić Trail to Alan (1414).Constructed using the drystone technique, the Premužić Trail is today considered a masterpiece of trail building. Upon arrival to Alan we’ll be transferred to the Island of Rab where you’ll be hosted at our family place and relax atmosphere. We’ll have some traditional dinner and Rakija (grappa) tasting for those who dare.

Day Three – Island and the Town of Rab – Sea Kayaking

Today we’ll have a sightseeing of the town in the morning with few coffee and drink stops before we hit to lunch again at our place. We’ll rest from hiking and go Sea Kayaking from Lopar exploring the sandy beaches and the Island of St.Grgur-a formal political prison where we’ll have our camp and grill prepared by our chef. White wine tasting night.

Day Four – Sea Kayaking the Geo-Park Rab

We’ll paddle the high cliffs of Grgur with a lookout on a Griffon Vultures- the biggest Eurasian birds. After we reach the most southern point of the Island we’ll have a short break before we cross back to Lopar for a lunch on a sandy beach. The second part of paddling will take us to Geo Park Rab where we’ll enjoy paddling and jumping into the Medova Cave. Today we’ll camp under the stars on the pebble beach with a view on Velebit Mountain and enjoy in red wine tasting and amazing food prepared by Šime.

Day Five – The Cave Adventure and Fish

After delicious breakfast we’ll paddle the second part of cliffs and caves area to reach the bay of Mišnjak where we’ll finish our kayak part and go with ferry back to mainland. We’ll drive the beautiful coastal road to reach Rovanjska where we’ll have afternoon cave adventure in Modrič Cave. The cave is completely natural meaning it is not made for massive tourism where you have lights all over. The only light will be on your helmet provided by our speleology guide that will supply overall suit as well. Cave is 550 meters long and we’ll spend around 2 hours inside. Our overnight place is in family owned rooms and restaurant where we’ll enjoy in Adriatic fish.

Day Six - Rafting down the Snake-shape River of Zrmanja

We’ll have a short transfer to Zrmanja River Canyon where we’ll have a guided river journey through small rapids and beautiful scenery. The water is crystal clear and there is one big waterfall that we’ll surround on foot. Upon finish we’ll have a lunch next to the river and transfer back to our rooms in Rovanjska but first we’ll stop for a sightseeing of the second part of the river. Optional is to visit National Park Paklenica Canyon that is only 15 min drive from our place.

Day Seven – Krka National Park Hiking

MasterChef breakfast on a terrace with a view on Velebit Mountain and packing for the day. We’ll have 50 min transfer to picturesque town of Skradin and from there we’ll have a boat to Krka National Park where we’ll spend the day exploring the falls and travertines and we can swim under the big waterfall .In the afternoon hours we’ll have a short transfer to Medieval Town of Šibenik and visit the Cathedral that is on the list of UNESCO heritage. Overnight in Kalpić - a family owned rural holiday house with tavern where we’ll enjoy in traditional food.

Day Eight – Transfers

Breakfast and organized transfer to Šibenik or Zadar Airport/Town.
