Our itinerary offers a rough outline of our sea kayak adventure along Croatia's stunning coastline. Our day sets off with a paddle journey from the Omišalj camp. We cover 2 kilometers until we reach the famed Krk Bridge, a remarkable structure erected in 1980 during Tito's era. Spanning 1430 meters, it took four years to complete.

Continuing our course, we paddle another two kilometers to reach our initial halt, the Maltempo Fortress. Erected by the Venetians in the 16th century for its strategic position, it underscores Krk's control over maritime routes due to its proximity to the mainland.

An Austrian-built lighthouse in 1875 serves as a testament to their dominance over the peninsula.

Following a satisfying lunch, our journey proceeds towards the southern tip of the landmass, navigating to Cape Bejavec and tracing the coastline until we approach one of Krk Island's most renowned towns.

Vrbnik beckons, celebrated for its exquisite Žlahtina wine, a delight we shall indulge in at our inaugural beach campsite nearby.

Our first destination beckons with the allure of natural grandeur: the majestic cliffs of the Kunterp ornithological reserve. Towering to heights of up to 200 meters, these rugged cliffs stand as silent sentinels, bearing witness to the passage of time and the eternal dance of the elements. As we draw near, we are captivated by the sheer magnitude of their presence, their rocky facades adorned with the vibrant hues of moss and lichen.

Pausing to admire nature's handiwork, we continue our odyssey, our hearts filled with anticipation for the adventures that lie ahead. Our path leads us to the tranquil waters of the Zavratnica narrows, a picturesque haven nestled amidst the craggy cliffs. Here, we shall break bread and indulge in a leisurely swim, allowing the cool embrace of the sea to wash away the weariness of the day's journey.

As the sun begins its descent, casting a golden glow upon the horizon, we set our sights on our final destination: the idyllic haven of Mala Luka. Enveloped by the gentle lull of the waves and serenaded by the chorus of nature, we shall dine beneath the shimmering tapestry of stars, our spirits lifted by the simple joys of camaraderie and exploration. In the embrace of this tranquil sanctuary, we find solace and renewal, our souls replenished by the boundless beauty of the natural world.

Following a nourishing breakfast, we embark on our next leg of exploration, setting our sights towards the charming town of Baka and its southern tip. Our paddles slice through the azure waters, propelling us forward with each rhythmic stroke, as we eagerly anticipate the treasures that await us along the coastline.

Our journey takes us to the threshold of adventure as we traverse the legendary gates of Senj, known as Senjska Vrata, marking our passage to the enigmatic Island of Prvić. This uninhabited gem, crowned as the largest of its kind in Croatia, was bestowed the prestigious title of a botanical and ornithological reserve in 1972. Here, amidst its pristine landscapes, the majestic Griffon Vultures find sanctuary, their formidable presence gracing the rugged cliffs that punctuate the island's shores. With wingspans stretching up to an awe-inspiring 2.9 meters, these magnificent creatures embody the untamed spirit of the wilderness.

Pausing to marvel at nature's splendor, we chart a course toward the island's western coast, our spirits ablaze with the thrill of discovery. Before we reach our final beach sanctuary for the evening, where a delicious dinner awaits, we pause for a leisurely lunch upon the solitary shores of the island's eastern beach. Our paddles slice through the crystalline waters as we chart a course spanning 3.3 kilometers towards the storied shores of Sveti Grgur, known colloquially as St. Gregory's Island.

Once a notorious political prison, this island harbors a wealth of history and intrigue, offering us a rare opportunity to delve into its storied past. As we explore its hallowed grounds, we are humbled by the weight of its legacy, its echoes reverberating through the corridors of time.

With hearts heavy with history, we press onward, navigating the rugged contours of the island's eastern coast, where towering bluffs cast their imposing shadows upon the restless sea. Our journey leads us across the azure expanse to yet another relic of the past: the haunting shores of Goli Otok, aptly named the "Exposed Island."

Circumnavigating its rocky perimeter, we bear witness to the scars of a bygone era, where the winds of oppression once howled through its barren landscape. As we trace the contours of its shores, we pay homage to the resilience of the human spirit, a testament to the indomitable will to survive amidst adversity.

Retracing our path, we return to the sanctuary of Grgur Island before embarking on a final crossing to the tranquil shores of Rab Island. Here, amidst the pristine beauty of Sahara Bay, we make camp upon the soft embrace of white sands, our thoughts turning to the comforts of camaraderie and the promise of a nourishing dinner beneath the starlit sky. In the embrace of nature's bounty, we find solace and renewal, our spirits uplifted by the timeless rhythms of the sea.

Today promises an exhilarating journey as we set our course towards the captivating wonders of GeoPark Rab and the mesmerizing Medova Buža Cavern. Our kayaks glide effortlessly through the pristine waters, each stroke bringing us closer to the allure of adventure that awaits.

As we arrive at the entrance of the Medova Buža Cavern, a sense of anticipation fills the air. With hearts racing, we seize the opportunity to immerse ourselves in its enchanting depths, marveling at the ethereal beauty that unfolds beneath the shimmering surface. Venturing further, we explore a labyrinth of hidden caves, each unveiling its own unique secrets and mysteries.

Amidst our exploration, we indulge in moments of respite, pausing to revel in the cool embrace of the crystalline waters. Two idyllic stops beckon us, offering the perfect opportunity to bask in the warmth of the sun and refresh our spirits amidst nature's embrace.

For those embarking on the extended five-day expedition, our voyage draws to a close at the ferry port nestled in the tranquil bay of Minjak. But our adventure is far from over. With renewed vigor, we press onward, paddling an additional eight kilometers towards our next destination. Along the way, we discover another hidden gem—a pristine oasis where the turquoise waters invite us to linger and bask in their cool embrace.

Our expedition takes us through this picturesque bay, where every turn reveals a new stunning vista. Here, we facilitate the retrieval of your kayaks and equipment while the remainder of the group continues their paddle journey through the scenic Velebit Channel and along the Pag coastline. As evening falls, we find ourselves nestled in a serene small bay, where we settle in for the night and enjoy a delightful dinner on the tranquil beach. Join us as we unwind amidst nature's beauty, savoring the tranquility of our seaside haven.

Today, our journey leads us to the charming town of Ražanac, a scenic 30 kilometers from our starting point. En route to our campsite, we'll embark on a picturesque paddle along the eastern coast of this enchanting, moon-like island, passing beneath the majestic Bridge of Pag.

Here, we'll have the opportunity to behold the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Fortica, a historic stronghold erected in the 17th century to vigilantly oversee the bustling maritime routes that were once plagued by pirate raids.

As we glide through these historic waters, we're reminded of the rich tapestry of stories woven into the fabric of this remarkable landscape.

we embark from Ražanac towards the historic town of Vinjerac, tracing a path steeped in tales of medieval strife and resilience. Established in the early Middle Ages, Vinjerac bore witness to intense conflict between Venice and the Turkish Empire, serving as a critical checkpoint between Turkish-held Lika and Venetian Zadar. The turbulent clashes reached such intensity that Venice razed Vinjerac to the ground in 1570, thwarting its capture by Turkish forces.

Our journey then leads us beneath the towering spans of two bridges linking Velebit with the hinterland of Zadar, marking the conclusion of the Velebit channel. The second bridge, reconstructed in 2005 after its predecessor fell during the Croatian War of Independence in 1991, stands as a testament to the region's enduring spirit. Continuing our paddle, we encounter the Novigrad Sea and establish our campgrounds near the serene town of Maslenica.

Today, our adventure leads us through the majestic canyon of the Zrmanja River, renowned for its captivating brackish waters. Our journey commences with a stop in the quaint town of Obrovac, serving as our gateway to exploration. From there, we embark on an upstream paddle towards the picturesque 3-meter-high waterfall known as Jankovića Buk, where the river converges with the sea. Amidst the serene ambiance, we encounter the remnants of ancient mills, inviting us to indulge in a refreshing swim.

Afterwards, we navigate our kayaks back to Obrovac, marking the conclusion of our sea kayaking expedition. Following our exhilarating day on the water, we transition to the charming town of Rovanjska for a well-deserved dinner and overnight stay in cozy accommodations. Join us as we immerse ourselves in the natural wonders and rich history of the Zrmanja River, forging unforgettable memories along the way.
